Artist Bio & Statement

Born and raised in India, Neha Panicker is an artist, architect, designer currently based in Seattle. She has a degree in architecture and a decade-long career designing built spaces and interiors across geographies. Her artistic language and art practice are greatly inspired by her multi-dimensional, multi-cultural contexts. In 2019, she transitioned into her lifelong dream of developing a full time art practice.

Mindfulness and bringing the authentic self to the act of making is at the core of her work. She experiments with analog visual art mediums, different tools, varying scales, mixed media, and body movement in mark making.

“In my art practice, I am exploring themes that are closely intertwined with an intimate quest for self discovery of the mind, body and spirit. My artistic explorations are an active exercise in mindfulness, being present in the act of making and expanding self awareness. With body and mind fully engaged, committing to the synchrony of flow and movement, there is a poetic nature to the physical act of painting that I’m especially keen on practicing and expressing. My work embodies an abstract representation of the self through emotionally receptive mark making.

I am meticulous about creating an art process that is equally as meaningful as the work itself. Being intentional about how I make paintings and why I make them is as important to me as what they showcase.

With my work, I continue to evolve as an individual, through this lifelong journey. Art for me is not just about what you create, but about your way of life. How you live, the dreams you pursue, your generosity of spirit, how you face challenges, what you fight for, how you listen and how you speak up. For me, life is not separate from art- life itself is art.”
